NGO to hold AGM again

According to the director of the EARTH Centre, Katrina Evans, the meeting was held on 4 April with an agenda item for the change of name and legal entity.

A recent SARDA Gauteng Annual General Meeting (AGM) is set to be held again following confusions in the first meeting last month.

According to the director of The EARTH Centre, Katrina Evans, the meeting was held on 4 April with an agenda item for the change of name and legal entity.

Sometime ago, the centre changed its operational name from SARDA at the EARTH Centre to simply The EARTH Centre.

“This was because we have now arrived at the stage where the EARTH Centre has successfully been handling operations for a year, following the vision and mission of SARDA Gauteng while broadening and building on the offerings of the legacy built by SARDA Gauteng,” Katrina explained.

However, she added that maintaining two legal entities is no longer essential and is an unnecessary cost of time and money for them.

She went on to explain what went wrong in the first AGM. “ We noticed that we did not fully follow the procedure, according to our constitution, in terms of stating clearly that the proposed dissolution of SARDA Gauteng was on the agenda,” she said.

And in order to rectify this, Katrina announced that they will be holding another Special General Meeting at which the dissolution will be discussed and voted on again.

The meeting will be held on 21 May at 11am.
