Football Without Borders sponsors partner clubs thanks to Lottery Commission
The latest donation and sponsored equipment came from the National Lottery Commission.
Football Without Borders (FWB), a non-profit organisation that makes use of soccer and other sports to tackle social issues, has donated more gear to two of its partner clubs.
Rampya Chiefs and Golden Drifters Football Academy have been partners with FWB and its founder, Michael Mapfunde, for a long time, and have already in the past benefited from sponsorships that FWB has received. Typically, FWB receives the donations and then passes the gear – be it soccer balls, boots, kit, or whatever – onto its partner clubs who are often in need of the equipment they receive from Michael and FWB.

Rampya Chiefs, one of the beneficiaries of the latest donation which came from the National Lottery Commission, train on a dusty, rock-strewn field across the road from The Hope Centre on Eureka Street in Zandspruit. On one side, it is bordered by houses, but the other drops off to an area littered with illegal electrical connection cables that run to the surrounding houses. The children also have the added issue of the field being a piece of ground that residents cross to access their houses, and the taxi rank is also situated there.
The latest donation was in the form of training bibs and a few soccer balls, which were shared with Golden Drifters, who are a little more fortunate in the sense that they have a designated training ground in Muldersdrift. “The donation is definitely going to be distributed among the teams we have within the club’s structures,” Golden Drifters president, Proud Shoko, said. As for Rampya Chiefs, the club’s coach, Donald Rampya, said that they were once again immensely grateful for the donation, and that it will go a long way to helping the players develop.
