Twins nominated as South African heroes

The twin sisters have been told that there is a prize for this year’s finalist, however the mere fact that they have been nominated is an honour and achievement in itself.

It is no wonder that the Wings of Inspiration Care Centre NPC has been nominated in the category for specialised care of the South African Heroes Awards for their outstanding service to community.

Wings of Inspiration was inspired by twin sisters, Kirsten Richardson and Anthea Da Costa, who had experienced many difficult situations in their lives. In 2016 a new journey unfolded, leading them to walk away from their corporate careers, determined to help the community that surrounds them.

Since the organisation’s establishment, the relentless determination of Kirsten and Anthea, co-founders and Directors of Wings of Inspiration Care Centre NPC, has taken it from strength to strength through the development of four tiers under its umbrella, including Dorah’s Ark Orphanage, a soup kitchen, a sober living home, a play-school based in Mpumalanga and a care centre.

The sisters’ compassionate hearts, coupled with their ongoing efforts, have been instrumental in helping those who have fallen on hard times to get back on their feet. They live by the philosophy that a single act of kindness, no matter how small, can change the entire course of someone’s life. According to the twins, “It is a personal call and the responsibility of every individual to get involved in the uplifting of our community by enriching the lives of the less fortunate and he underprivileged through compassion, equality and awareness. We would like to convey our sincere gratitude for all your support”.

The twins have been told that there is a prize for this year’s winner; however the mere fact that they have been nominated is an honour and achievement in itself, showing them that their outstanding work in the community is appreciated, and they will continue the journey and purpose that God has called them to.

The awards function will be held on Saturday, 27 April, at the Uncle Tom’s Hall, in Orlando West, Soweto.

The public may continue to vote for Wings of Inspiration by SMSing “HERO C2” to 45633 (cost per sms R1.50). You can vote as many times as you like.
