Electric cable hacked in the dark

BCI Security reported that they alerted City Power to the attempted cable theft after responding to the incident in the early hours of Friday morning, 12 April.

“Upon arrival, BCI Security’s officers met up with a number of Mafoko Security’s officers. After investigating, they discovered that unknown suspects had hacked through an electricity pole before cutting the electric cable.”

According to the report, it appears that when the suspects realised that the cable was made of aluminum and not copper, they left it and fled the scene.
