HWA wrestlers pay tribute to legend
The show was held to raise money for Thierry Miidoux’s hip replacement
Wrestling fans were treated to some stunning performances from several of their favourite Honour Wrestling Association (HWA) wrestlers when they joined forces for a good cause.
The show was a tribute for the legendary Thierry Middoux, but it also doubled as a charity event, to raise money to help the legend to undergo an urgent hip replacement.
The show was made even more special when the current wrestlers were joined by some of the legendary wrestlers of the past, including Cowboy, Bheki the taxi driver, Scarlette, Coalminer Jaco, AWB Frans Gerber and X-Terminator.
The first match of the evening was a grudge match between Gene the Rejected Clown and Clive Rude. Gene had the fans laughing as he pulled prank after prank on Clive Rude, which he did not find funny. To the delight of the crowd, Gene managed to outsmart Clive Rude and won the match via a pin-fall.

The following match saw Quinn wrestling against the powerhouse X-Terminator, who has wrestled against international stars like Bobby Lashley and Jack Swagger. Quinn knew he had to out-think his opponent and tire him out, and proved that he is one of the best in the country when he pinned X-Terminator by using the ropes to his advantage.
The crowd was brought to its feet when the next match’s participants were announced. The high-flying sensation, Azazel, took on HWA’s own rock star, Dirty Jackson, and it was a fast-paced affair, with both wrestlers using all the moves in their arsenal. But, the match ended on an abrupt note, when Dirty Jackson took advantage of a dazed Azazel, who suffered a concussion, and was declared as the match winner.
The co-main event saw The Bandit defend his South African Title against Hector Payne and Ultimate Nathan in a Triple Threat Elimination Match. The Bandit was in control of the match, flying off the ropes at his opponents until The Nightmare showed up, causing a distraction, resulting in Hector Payne eliminating him. Hector Payne used every move in the book, to no avail, and Ultimate Nathan grabbed the victory, as well as the title, with an amazing 450 splash.
The main event saw the current World Champion and 12-time South African Champion, Steve Eden defending his World Title against The Nightmare. As the two wrestlers entered the arena to their trademark theme songs, the crowd rose to its feet, cheering. The match saw the two wrestlers matching each other punch for punch. Just as Steve was establishing his dominance, he was surrounded by The Nightmare’s dream invaders, as well as Ultimate Nathan. Even though he tried his best to fight them all, he was outmanned, giving The Nightmare the opportunity to win the World Championship via a pin-fall.
The night ended with Ultimate Nathan and The Nightmare standing with their titles hoisted.
Steve Eden, the owner of HWA, thanked every single fan who supported the tribute show for Thierry Midoux, and said, “We, as sportsmen, need our fans in and out of the ring. We are honoured to put our bodies on the line for our fans and the legendary Thierry Midoux.”
