EARTH Centre comes alive with rhythm

Harmonics and the Earth Centre have partnered in four successful drumming events.

The Earth Centre came alive with the drum beats echoing from the visitors who came out to celebrate the equinox and the good deeds done by the organisation on Wednesday evening, 20 March.

Congregated around a huge bonfire, the Earth Centre supporters squeezed their drums between their legs as they learnt some good rhythms from a drumming group called Harmonics, owned by Paul Boyter, and also tried their own music.

Boyter, who has been drumming for over two decades, explained how he got involved. “The event started about two to three years ago when I met Natalie Stobäus, who told me about the Earth Centre and asked me to do a fundraiser that included drumming for them. It all started as a fun idea that has grown immensely, as we put on the event every equinox as a celebration of the changing season,” he said.

Harmonics and the Earth Centre have partnered in four successful drumming events. This year was extra special though, because of the lighting, which was powered by Adrian McLeish from a company called Dream of Fire.

Nicole Ras, the marketing coordinator, explained why they keep this event on their calendar. “So much stuff happens in our daily lives that we end up getting stuck in a rut and stop having fun and celebrating things,” she said.

Apart from celebrating the new season, Nicole said the event also celebrates what they do for 140 children with disabilities, and the horses that are the key therapists in the programmes they offer.
