Local security company BCI Security went beyond their precinct to foil a robbery in progress on the N14 highway on the night of 25 March.
According to the company, members of its Tactical Response and Armed Response Team were en route to an assignment in Centurion when they came across an armed robbery in progress on the N14.

“They stopped to assist and were met with gunshots fired by one of the attackers,” said Gary Jordaan, BCI’s media liaison officer.
He added that they gave chase into Diepsloot and managed to apprehend one of the suspects, “… unfortunately not the one with the firearm.
“Luckily a police vehicle from Lanseria Airport was passing by and saw the commotion as by now a crowd of community members had gathered and wanted to set the apprehended suspect alight by using paraffin,” he explained.
Police arrested the suspect and took him to Diepsloot Police Station for processing and further investigation.
