Man shot in attempted robbery in Newlands

The shooting is believed to have happened some time after 6pm last night, 26 March.

A man has been left critically injured after he was shot during an attempted robbery at the 15th Street and Anzac Road intersection in Newlands last night.

According to ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring, paramedics arrived on scene at 6.46pm to find that a man, believed to be in his 50s, had sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen as well as a flesh wound to his head, leaving him in a critical condition. “The man was treated for his injuries and provided with several advanced life support interventions before he was transported to a nearby private hospital for further treatment,” Meiring said.

“The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” Mering concluded.
