Traffic is expected to flow normally in the Weltevreden Park area following the reopening of 9th Avenue during the weekend.
Ward 126 councillor, David Brand, informed the motorists on his Twitter page on Saturday, 23 March, that 9th Avenue in Weltevreden Park had been opened to traffic, but motorists should be cautious as the road remains unmarked.

Although this was good news for the motorists who have had to sit in traffic due to the road closure, the contractor, Maziya General Services, received heavy criticism for missing their initial deadline of 15 March.

However, on Monday, 25 March, traffic was flowing smoothly on 9th Avenue despite the presence of heavy machinery used to install underground pipes along the side of the road.
