A suspect was arrested in Matholesville informal settlement on 17 February.
Captain Juanita Yorke, the Roodepoort Police spokesperson, said, “While on patrol, a suspicious-looking male was spotted. When he was approached, he tried to run away and a struggle ensued. When he was brought under control, an unlicensed firearm, with the serial number filed off, was found in his possession.”
He was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm. He will be appearing in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
