Biker seriously injured in Newlands accident

An 18-year-old male was seriously injured last night, 7 March, during an alleged hit-and-run incident on Ontdekkers Road, Newlands.

According to Ross Campbell, ER24 spokesperson, a taxi collided with the young man’s motorcycle, and then sped off, leaving him lying in the road.

“ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 7.11pm and found the teenager lying next to the motorcycle in the road. He required advanced life support interventions before being transported to a private hospital in Roodepoort for further treatment,” he said.

Local authorities were on scene for further investigation.
