Lacklustre Panorama finishing leads to loss against UJ

It was the 13th loss of Panorama's debut season.

Panorama Football Club was hoping to continue its good form when it took on the University of Johannesburg on 2 March, but suffered yet another loss in the SAB League Johannesburg.

The Undertakers went into the fixture off the back of a 3–2 victory away to Myeni Football Club, when SAB League debutant, Tobi Idebi, bagged two goals to carry the team over the line. UJ, however, was coming off the back of a 1–1 draw with Randburg Association Football Club and was hoping to further strengthen its place in the Top 4 of the Blue Stream of the SAB League Johannesburg.

Panorama’s good form from the week before seemed to carry over into the clash as they started the game off positively by dominating possession, passes, and overall play for the majority of the opening exchanges. This all changed however when UJ took the lead against the run of play through a brilliant outside-of-the-foot shot from outside the box that just crept in under the crossbar.

This saw momentum begin to swing UJ’s way and the team extended its lead not long after through a clinical finish, following poor goalkeeping from Panorama’s number one which saw him parry the ball into the path of a UJ striker who laid it off for a teammate to finish off the goal and go 2–0 ahead. The Undertakers kept UJ at bay for the remainder of the half as the game went into the break at 2–0 to the varsity boys.

Things just went from bad to worse in the second half as within 10 minutes Panorama found itself three goals behind and with a mountain to climb. The boys were unable to climb this mountain, and despite creating a number of chances as they did in the first half, they couldn’t round off any plays.

This was until the final stretch, when Tobi managed to salvage some pride for the home side as he bagged his third goal in two games. With the score ending on 3–1, Panorama remains in 14th place on the log during their maiden SAB League season.
