9th Avenue expected to reopen soon

“Rand Water anticipates that 9th Avenue should reopen on 15 March,” he said.

 

“The road would be reopened soon,” said Ward 126 councillor David Brand when he gave an update on the 9th Avenue road closure.

However, he also explained the catch in a tweet. “… this [date] could be extended if we have rain or other unforeseen delays”.

The contractor, Maziya General Services, was forced to close the road recently due to the cracks in the road surface which threatened its integrity. The rain and underground water were highlighted as the main sources of the problem.

Brand also indicated that the contractor worked even during the weekend to speed up the repair process. He said, “The new pipe has been welded and the testing results [will be ready] in the next few days”.
