Almost 100 arrested in the JHB West Cluster

Captain Tinyiko Mathebula shared one highlight that stood out during the operations.

The Johannesburg West Cluster was short of only one person to be able to put 100 people behind bars during this past weekend.

The cluster, which is made up of various police stations including Honeydew, Roodepoort and Florida, conducted various operations which saw 99 suspects being put behind bars.

Captain Tinyiko Mathebula shared one highlight that stood out during the operations. “The highlight of the arrests made during the weekend was the arrest of four male suspects between the ages of 23 and 30 in Diepsloot, for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle which was reported stolen at Moffatview Police Station.”

“The members of the West Rand Flying Squad allegedly received a lookout from a tracking company about the hijacked vehicle. They acted swiftly on the information and proceeded to Diepsloot. Upon arrival, the members found four males in the vehicle, arrested them all, and charged them with possession of a hijacked motor vehicle,” Mathebula explained.

All suspects are expected to make court appearances in the Magistrates’ Courts in their areas of arrest.
