The end of an era

Dave and Hilary White from Radiokop write:

The land situated between Christian De Wet and Opera Roads in Radiokop has been the local driving range for well over 40 years. It was there before the school and the housing complexes around it.

Now the land has been sold and it is believed that a new private high school will be built there some time in the future. This means that the driving range will be closing down at 4pm on 29 March.

Golfers have expressed disappointment that they cannot practise their golf swings for much longer, saying the other driving ranges are a lot further away, or more expensive.

One member of staff at the range has worked there since 1999, another since 2003. They will be looking for jobs and accommodation.

The landscape, including the many fruit trees, the feral cats, the birds, and the guinea fowl will all change after April when the earth works start.

Meanwhile, Wood & Iron will have an ‘everything must go sale’ starting in March.

The owners of Wood & Iron wish their customers a fond farewell and thank all who have supported them over the years.
