We would like to express our appreciation towards taxi drivers who take care of elderly and disabled commuters.
We are disabled and use wheelchairs, and we work in the Roodepoort area. We use public transport (taxis) daily to go to work and back home again.
For the past six years we have never been discriminated against or have been made to feel uncomfortable by taxis drivers, as well as the queue marshals and commuters, especially at Rank 5 in Roodepoort CBD.
There are other disabled people and old people who also enjoy the warm treatment from taxi drivers whom they would love to express their sincere thanks to, mostly to the ones driving on the route from Roodepoort to Honeydew.
The drivers always go the extra mile for their passengers, especially the disabled and elderly. They drop us near our destination where it is accessible and user friendly to wheelchairs users, and sometimes drop us off at our workplace gates, especially on rainy days.
Once again a heartfelt thanks to them for being very kind, accommodating, helpful and understanding the needs of disabled people.
We wish that all taxi ranks would learn from Rank 5 on how to give an excellent service to their passengers.
