Roodepoort Primary School sworn in their new student leaders during a special assembly recently.
According to Siva Naicker, the school’s principal, the learners will be expected to be rolemodels who lead by example.

Twenty-one Grade 7 learners were appointed as leaders, and they will be led by Jonathan Bailey (head Boy), Anthony Peters (deputy head boy), Kugawo Mhlekwa (head girl) and Lee-Shana Nichols (deputy head girl).
The main responsibility of the new leaders will be to lead by example and to be rolemodels for the other children. “We have quite a few things planned for them, including leadership camps and a trip to the Gauteng Legislature. We want to expose them to rolemodels in society in an effort to sharpen their leadership skills and help them to become better leaders, and, ultimately, a rolemodel and leader that society can also look up to,” he said.
Siva said they were very proud of each learner and said, “I would like to congratulate each learner who was selected as a leader. We have high expectations of them and are confident that they will not only be rolemodels at school, but also in society.”
