Charterhouse gets 2019 swimming season under way

The Cornwall Pirates house managed to walk away with the crown at the end of the gala.

Charterhouse Preparatory School held its annual inter-house swimming gala on Friday 1 February, getting their 2019 swimming season under way.

The weather might not have been the best, let alone the warmest, but the Happy Chaps – as the Charterhouse learners are known – made sure to keep the atmosphere warm with chant upon chant cheering their swimmers on. The three houses – Cornwall Pirates, Devon Saints, and Somerset Dragons – had the chance to make an impact on the crowds from the get-go by making their presence felt with their impressive chants and spirit.

Cornwall managed to dominate the opening exchanges thanks to some impressive performances from its swimmers, who managed to win a host of the breaststroke and individual medley races. They continued their dominance throughout the gala, coming out on top at the end of the day, with Devon in second place and Somerset in third.
