A contractor assigned to cut grass in parts of Ward 126 and 97 who chose to neglect some sections in Ward 97, is to be investigated.
MMC for Economic Development and Ward 97 councillor, Leah Knott, reported the incident to the regional manager after the section of John Vorster Road from Christiaan De Wet Road to Paul Kruger Road was left unmowed.
“John Vorster Road is one of the roads selected for grass-cutting in the City Parks budget; however, the contractor has only cut the section within Ward 126 up to Christiaan De Wet Road, and not the section in Ward 97 up until Paul Kruger Road. This was raised with the regional manager and she has confirmed [as on the provided map] that the entire section is part of the allocation,” an unhappy Leah explained.
She added that the contractor was going to be taken back to finish the rest of the job and the depot manager would be investigated for failing to ensure that the entire area was mowed.
After addressing this incident, Leah went on to consult about grass-cutting in other parts of her ward. “City Parks recently advised that they had received extra budget for grass-cutting and I am pleased to confirm that Paul Kruger/ Nic Diederichs Road, Johan Road (particularly from Hans Road to Taylor Road), Krugerrand Road and Coleen Road, where I requested grass-cutting to be done have been approved and should commence within the next two weeks.
