Emmanuel emerges from Khaya Majola week with second successive SA Colts spot
It is the second consecutive year that Emmanuel has been selected for the SA Colts U/19 team.
After being selected for the SA Colts U/19 team in 2017, Emmanuel Motswiri was once again selected for the side last month after the 2018 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week.
Emmanuel, who was a matric learner at Maragon Ruimsig last year, started playing cricket when he was about eight or nine years old when he took part in mini-cricket. He then began playing competitive cricket at the age of 12, and went on to play provincial cricket four times – twice for the U/15B team, once for the U/17 side, and once for the U/19 side – before making the U/19 side again in 2018.
He was selected for the Central Gauteng team to take part in the 24th anniversary edition of the country’s premier Provincial Schools Cricket Week. Emmanuel enjoyed yet another successful Khaya Majola Week, averaging more than 50 runs and bagging a 51 not out against KwaZulu-Natal’s Coastal team. Emmanuel was subsequently selected for the Cricket South Africa (CSA) Colts U/19 team, the side second only to the South Africa U/19 Schools team.
He played a part in the Colts’ impressive four-wicket victory over the SA Schools team in a T20 exhibition match on the final day of the Khaya Majola Week, scoring two not out before the game came to an end. His achievements didn’t stop there however, as he was then selected for the Bizhub Highveld Lions team to take part in the 2019 Cricket SA Franchise Cubs Week from 3 to 7 January.
