With the new year comes new responsibilities. It is no different for the Baby Moses Baby Sanctuary, which has more than 120 children in their care.
Lanie de Klerk, co-founder of Baby Moses, said, “We do not receive any other funding and to be able to care for the children, we need the support and assistance of our community. We appreciate any and all support, as it greatly reduces our financial burden.”
She added that their immediate needs include the following:
• Volunteers who can commit to visiting them one afternoon a week from 2.30pm to 5.30pm to help with the children’s homework. The only requirement is that the person should be fluent in Afrikaans, as the children go to Afrikaans schools.
• A top-up of their pharmacy account at Wilropark Pharmacy, where they get some of the chronic medication that is not covered by the government clinics, as well as acute medication.
• Any pre-loved children’s clothing.
• Computer printing or office paper to be used at the care centre in the village close to Botswana, for the toddlers’ educational activities.
“We also have two school tours and a rugby tour coming up and would really appreciate any help. Although these types of school activities make a huge dent in our budget, we always try to make it happen, so our children can also participate and spend time with their friends,” she said.
