Everybody should be responsible dog owners

Peter Wood from Wilro Park writes:

While I would not wish anyone to experience the trauma of a dog attack, I would like to relate my own experience with people walking their dogs in this area. My property is not fenced, because I refuse to live in fear behind high walls and razor wire. Every day, I see people with dogs using my lawn as a convenient pit stop for the dogs to relieve themselves.

Not once in 20 years have I seen any dog walker carrying a poop scoop, or the means to dispose of their dog’s pollution. In fact, certain people in the area even boast that their gardens are poop-free, because they regularly walk their animals on others’ property.

There is one neighbour who walks his pit bull two or three times a day, and releases the animal to charge at dogs that are behind gates, which drives them into a frenzy. He thinks this is a big joke. I have no problem with people walking their dogs, as long as they are responsible.

The person who left his gate open had obviously just had enough of the irresponsible kind.
