Ill pot plant owl urgently needs treatment

Residents in the surrounding areas have been urged to look in their gardens every morning and evening to see if Pappa has landed there.

Concerned residents of a complex in Radiokop are pleading with the community to be on the lookout for a spotted eagle owl that has gone missing last night, Monday, 7 January.

Pappa, the missing pot plant owl, is said to be very ill and requires urgent treatment for an infection it is suffering from. The infection has resulted in the death of its three chicks and their mother that had been living with Pappa in a pot plant in the complex.

A resident of the complex and bird lover, Amanda van Rensburg, who has known the owls for 16 years, told Northsider that Pappa needs to be rescued before his condition worsens. “We last saw him last night at about 7.30pm when he flew away towards the wetland.

Pappa is terribly sick and needs treatment the Owl Rescue Centre has agreed to provide,” she said.

Residents in the surrounding areas have been urged to look in their gardens every morning and evening to see if Pappa has landed there.

Anyone with leads or who spots the owl can contact Amanda on 082 852 1785.
