Residents urged to use EFT to pay their municipal accounts

Should your not receive you bill on time, either pay the same amount as the previous month.

The City of Johannesburg wishes to inform residents that its Revenue Customer Service Centres will be closed on 5 January.

According to City of Johannesburg MMC for Finance, Funzela Ngobeni, residents should further note that due to maintenance on its IT system, the system (including E-Services) will be offline from Friday, 11 January from 6pm until Monday, 14 January at 7am.

From 7 January, the Thuso House Customer Service Centre in Braamfontein will revert back to extended operating hours from 7 January, being 7.30am to 6pm, including all Saturdays from 7.30am tol 12.30pm.

“This will affect all Customers Service Centres as well as the Call Centre, which will be able to receive calls but not action service requests. We apologise for any inconvenience,” said Ngobeni.

He advises residents who wish to pay their accounts to utilise other third parties or pay via EFT using their nine-digit account number as reference when paying via the internet.

In order to ensure accounts are paid on time, residents are advised to use the following methods to avoid credit control action:

• With EasyPay, facilitating a quick payment option at many shops that you visit on a regular basis, including Pick n Pay and Shoprite Checkers

• Debit orders

• Direct deposits at major banks

• ATMs

• Internet and cellphone banking

• SA Post Office

Should your not receive you bill on time, either pay the same amount as the previous month or call Joburg Connect on 0860 562 874 to enquire about the amount you owe.

You can also register to receive your accounts by email. All you need to do is register on the City’s website at www.joburg.org.za and your account will be emailed to you monthly.

Paying your account on time contributes to interrupted and smooth service delivery to all the residents of the City. Residents who have queries can log them with Joburg Connect.
