Although the Record does not want to be alarmist, it believes in better being safe than sorry.
According to various reports on social media, many residents in the Witpoortjie area are suffering from symptoms that include vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness. One woman said she hadn’t been able to sleep since she fell ill two nights ago (31 December). Some of those affected claim that the ‘bug’ is the result of the excessive rains this past week.

Allegedly a pharmacist claimed that “every second customer had the same symptoms”. It could not be confirmed whether the rain caused the symptoms, but residents are advised to take the necessary precautions, such as avoiding sharing cups and washing their hands.
