Emcare facilitates first aid training for Muldersdrift NGO

Legae La Nnete now has two individuals who are qualified in Level 1 first aid, and another who is qualified at Level 2.

Two representatives of Legae La Nnete were fortunate enough to receive Level 1 first aid training from Emcare Health and Safety’s Gauteng branch on 19 and 20 November.

Legae La Nnete is a non-profit organisation which helps rehabilitate individuals with drug addictions and reintegrates them back into society once they are fully rehabilitated. The organisation carries out their rehabilitation by means of encouraging the people to work on a farm, where they are required to do quite a bit of physical work that could often be dangerous.

As a means to help provide the peace of mind that comes from having people who can assist with injuries on the farm, Legae La Nnete had two individuals enrol in a two-day Level 1 first aid training course at Emcare Training Academy in Constantia Office Park. The course, which Anthony Hemmens and Ditebogo Moliea attended, took place on 19 and 20 November, and provided them with training on the principles of emergency care, ethics, primary and secondary survey, artificial respiration, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and AED airway obstruction – choking.

They will also be able to tend to wounds and help with bleeding, shock, unconsciousness and fainting, burns, fractures and splinting, and head and spinal injuries.

According to Anthony, the training will definitely help on the farm, as it reassures them in the event of something going wrong.
