Maragon stars impress at rugby IPT
The two rugby stars played in the annual rugby inter provincial tournament in early October.
Thomas Beling and Ethan Hayes represented two different teams at the inter-provincial tournament (IPT) this year, with both of their sides performing well.
The IPT brought unions such as Blue Bulls, Falcons, Sharks and the Golden Lions from right around the country to compete against each other during a week in Durban. Traditionally the tournament was only for U/13, U/14, U/15, U/16 and U/18 age groups.
This was the first year that U/12 teams were invited to compete and the Golden Lions Rugby Union invited Western Cubs Junior Rugby Club to represent the region.
Thomas, who plays in the U/12 category, represented Western Cubs at the annual rugby IPT that was held in Durban from 1 to 6 October. He and his Western Cubs side managed to walk away with the trophy after defeating the Blue Bulls in the final.
Ethan represented the U/13 Golden Lions IPT team. His team also had a phenomenal tournament and ended up as the champions of their age group.
They made it into the finals on Saturday, playing against the Blue Bulls’ team. The Dragons walked away with the winning trophy and medals.
