Apcan reaction officer shot dead in CBD

Officer was responding to business alarm that went off.

This past Friday night (9 November) a reaction officer of Apcan Security, Justice Khanyile, was tragically shot dead in the Roodepoort CBD.

The incident took place in Plein Street. According to the available information, Khanyile was shot dead when he responded to an alarm that was triggered at a business. The Record is in the process of obtaining more information.

Senior State Advocate Deon van Wyk, a member of the Kruin Community Voluntary Association said in a statement, “… I humbly request that we acknowledge the dangerous work that all the reaction officers are doing in protecting us. We therefore pledge our full support to each officer to render assistance where and when it’s needed.” In another statement Van Wyk said Khanyile “paid the ultimate price” to protect the community.
