Motorists thanked for assisting knocked over pedestrian
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital after being knocked and dragged by a taxi for several metres on Hendrik Potgieter Road.
Good Samaritans who delayed their trips to help a man who was initially trapped underneath a taxi after being knocked over yesterday morning, Thursday, 8 November were thanked by an emergency unit.
The pedestrian was rushed to hospital after being knocked and dragged by a taxi for several metres on Hendrik Potgieter Road.
The incident happened opposite the Retail Crossing Shopping Centre in Little Falls, just before 9am. According to a report from the BCI Security Incident Support Team, which initially assessed the man before he was driven to the hospital by ER24 paramedics, a community member confirmed to them that the man was trapped underneath the taxi while the taxi driver was trying to wipe blood stains off the taxi.

Gary Jordaan, BCI Security’s media liaison said, “By the time we arrived, the patient had managed to crawl out from underneath the taxi and was in excruciating pain having been run over and dragged several metres under the taxi.
“He was assessed by the BCI Security Medic while our Medical Partners from ER24 were en route. He was then stabilised on the scene before being transported by ER24 to a local hospital for further treatment.”
He added that Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived to investigate the events leading up to and the cause of the accident.
