Traffic advisory due to heavy rains and damaged roads

Motorists are urged to drive carefully in stormy weather.

 

Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin is urging motorists to obey road signs, traffic signals and especially road closures due to flooded bridges or unsafe driving conditions.

This comes after the heavy rain during the afternoon of Monday, 5 November. “In the event of a flash flood or where residents are at risk, it is advisable to immediately evacuate the area and seek a place of safety. Residents and road users are encouraged to report all road- and storm-related emergencies to the Johannesburg Roads Agency’s stand-by team,” René said.

Residents can report road emergencies on 060 960 0762, and damaged traffic lights on 082 827 8250.
