A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed yesterday evening, 6 November, when he was knocked over by a taxi on Main Street in Newlands.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find the body of a man lying in the middle of the road. The taxi had come to a stop 15 metres away from the patient. Paramedics quickly assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life.

Nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead. The taxi driver escaped injury.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
