Long clinic queues just for Panado

“We have received several complaints from members of the Zandspruit community regarding the poor service at Zandspruit Clinic. People are said to be queuing for hours only to be given Panado. The elderly people are losing hope due to the poor service and ill-treatment by the clinic staff,” Mabunda lamented.
He backed his statement by referring to an incident of a woman giving birth outside the clinic premises due to the unprofessional conduct of the clinic staff.
The incident left the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Health and Social Development in the City of Joburg, Dr Mpho Phalatse shocked and disappointed. She consequently visited the clinic to investigate the matter.
Mabunda also claimed that such an incident and many other deaths could have been prevented if the staff had taken pride in their job.
Some community members also weighed in by saying the clinic is unhygienic and accusing its staff of taking long tea and lunch breaks instead of serving the community.
Mabunda encouraged the residents to report those clinic staff members who are not serving the community as they should. “We urge all community members to report all the staff members who ill-treat them to the relevant authorities.”
He said he was happy to see some of the clinic staff at the gathering and that they should convey a message to their colleagues. “The message must be clear that should we receive complaints from the community going forward, we will be left with no choice but to [act accordingly],” Mabunda concluded.
