Unified Café robbed again

Suspects took the computer hard drives.

Exactly 12 days after being robbed by suspects posing as police officers on 26 October, Unified Café once again fell prey to an armed robbery. The latest incident occurred yesterday, 5 November, at about 5pm.

The incident took place at the corner of Rebecca and Naomi Streets in Florida. This time the robbers were not dressed up as police, but as with the previous robbery, which the complainant Saiful Islam claimed was one of many over the years, there were four gang members. They fled with just over R5 000 in cash as well as a quantity of cigarettes. The previous incident was caught on CCTV cameras, but this time the robbers were clever enough to also take the computer hard drives and with them, the footage of the robbery.

It is uncertain whether it is the same gang who committed the second crime.

Another café robbery was also committed at a café in Hull Street yesterday.
