Use online system and avoid long queues

This service is for any member of the South African public with a valid South African identity document who would like to make a pre-booking for one of the online services.

Did you know that you can now pre-book online for Learner Licence and Driving Licence Tests?

According to City of Johannesburg’s Executive Mayor, Herman Mashaba, the point of this service is to provide convenience to the public, to save time and effort so that an applicant can pre-book a time slot when applying for one of the online services before going to their nearest Driving Licence Testing Centre (DLTC).

This service is for any member of the South African public with a valid South African identity document who would like to make a pre-booking for one of the online services.

Members of the public should only make one pre-booking for the licence test. In other words, they are not allowed to make the same test application at different testing stations.

Online payment will be implemented in the near future but currently, the system does not allow for online payments. Therefore, you must pay for your booking at the testing station where the pre-booking was made.

An eye test must be conducted on the day of the payment at the DLTC. Alternatively, members of the public can go to a recognised eye specialist who will issue a certificate that will be accepted at the testing station.

“This is a step forward in improving licensing services offered in the City of Johannesburg,” said Mashaba.

Manual (i.e. walk-in) service is permitted from Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 10am. From 10am, onwards the service is strictly for online appointments.
