Maragon says goodbye to the Class of 2018
The coin the matrics received was placed in the chest that holds the coins of every student that has matriculated at Maragon Ruimsig.
Maragon Ruimsig’s matrics finally said farewell to the school at the annual valedictory service on Friday, 12 October.
The service is one of the school’s most prestigious annual events, and is also the most important event in the lives of the matric students as it is the culmination of their five years of high school. It also acts as a culmination of all their hard work, so it was only fitting that heaps of awards and trophies were handed out to all the students.

One student in particular, Nicole Philips, stood out and was a most worthy recipient of the Dux Scholar award. She achieved eight distinctions, subject trophies for each of her specific subjects and an academic average of 94 per cent. Thato Dithebe (Head Boy) received the Ambassador Award, which recognises the learner’s role as an ambassador for Maragon in all aspects of school life and ethos. This while Hannah Valkenburg (Head Girl) received the Esprit de Corps award, which takes cognisance of a learner’s contribution to the school in various aspects of school life, academics, sport, culture, leadership and service.

The valedictory service ended in the most fitting manner for the learners when all the matrics were individually called up to receive their very own special coin and Bible.
