Sexual predator case postponed again
The case will continue on 12 November
Claude Marais, the sexual predator who was found guilty on five of the eight charges against him, appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate Court again this morning, 26 October.
The case had to be postponed again because the State witness was not available to testify.

Marais was arrested after he had offered a then 17-year-old Hoërskool Bastion learner R200 to perform oral sex on him. He was originally charged with nine offences pertaining to the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 32 of 2007.
A further five charges were added in January 2014, which led him to admit to the court that he had “unusual sexual urges”. Although he pleaded not guilty to the 14 charges and some of the victims had withdrawn their cases, he was found guilty on five of the remaining eight charges.
The case will continue on 12 November.
