On arrival at the railway tracks near the bridge they found that a tracking company had already pounced on the car thieves who had stolen the Toyota Hilux bakkie somewhere in the Helderkruin area. A shootout allegedly ensued between the tracking company and the suspects before they fled in their getaway vehicle, a golden Ford Ranger.
By the time the bakkie was found, the criminals were already stripping it, looking for the tracking device.
