Florida and Maraisburg residents to be without water
Contractor dug through main water pipe.
According to a Facebook post from ward 70 councillor, Caleb Finn, a main water pipe was damaged resulting in no water.
“A contractor installing fiber cables has unfortunately dug through a main water pipe near the CMR Golf course,” the post read.

He added that Johannesburg Water had to close the main water valve supplying Maraisburg and a section of Florida (near Donovan MacDonald Old Age Home).
“The team is waiting for the water to stop flowing and will resume repairs as soon as the water has subsided. It is foreseen that repairs will take most of tonight, no estimated time of restoration at this stage,” he concluded.
