This event was facilitated by Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin, at the local community centre. She explained that the aim of the workshop was to raise awareness of the rights of victims in the form of training and a door-to-door campaign in the community.

One of the topics that was communicated raised awareness of the victim’s charter. It educates victims about their rights. Some of the rights that were mentioned are: the right to be treated with fairness and with respect for dignity and privacy; the right to offer and receive information; the rights to protection, assistance, compensation and the right to restitution.
