Maragon cricket star qualifies for provincials once again
After making the team last year, Emmanuel has matched this feat again.
Eighteen-year-old Emmanuel Motswiri, a learner at Maragon Ruimsig High School, has qualified for the U/19A Gauteng team for the second year in a row.
Emmanuel started playing cricket when he was about eight or nine years old, when he took part in the mini-cricket set-up. He then began playing competitive cricket at age of 12, and went on to play provincial cricket three times before the dawn of 2018 – twice for the U/15B team, and once for the U/17 side.
He was then selected for the Gauteng U/19A team to take part in the annual Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week in December last year.
He has once again made his school proud by being selected for the Gauteng U/19A cricket team at the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Cricket Week.
During the October school holidays, Emanuel represented the U/19A Johannesburg West team against various other district sides during the provincial week. The boys played three matches in total to attempt to catch a selector’s eye and make a good impression.
Emanuel did so yet again, and was selected to represent his province later this year, with the hope of making the South African U/19 schools team.
