WITPOORTJIE SHOOTING UPDATE: It’s a miracle, says family
Victim only received stitches.
Eloise Fourie, 43, and her mother Yvonne Leonard, 72, coming off so ‘lightly’ from yesterday’s shooting at Witpoortjie Pick n Pay is a God-given miracle, said Fourie’s sister, Sharon Steyn.

Leonard was obviously in shock and sustained bruises, but her back was protected by a brace since she recently had back surgery. Fourie recently had a jaw operation and should the bullet have lodged in her jaw it would have had serious repercussions. But, said Steyn, the bullet merely cut through Fourie’s flesh, scraping past her jaw without damaging it. Fourie received stitches but did not have to spend the night in hospital.
Meanwhile, contrary to rumours that one of the suspects was shot and arrested, all the suspects are still on the run. Their vehicle was found abandoned.
