Have a Heart Care Centre in desperate need
High water bill leaves residents without water
A high water bill from the City of Johannesburg (CoJ) and the inability to make the payment, has left a number of elderly residents without water.
According to Marius Oelofse, the founder of the Have a Heart Care Centre, they were without water for the whole of last month, and are still without water. “Our bill amounts to R465 000. I went to see the legal department at CoJ, and were told that we would have to pay an amount of R200 000 before it can be re-connected,” Marius said.
He added that, if they want to to start a new account at the CoJ, they would need to pay an amount of R50 000. “We therefore plead with the community to help us out with a donation towards this goal. If there is anyone that can maybe help with a water donation, that will also be very welcome, as we have to buy water from different outlets, which, together with daily transport, amounts to quite an amount of money,” he explained.
This daily water offers the residents the opportunity to at least wash out of a bucket and flush the toilets, as well as have some for drinking and cooking.
“Your support will help us in this desperate situation, therefore I urge anyone who can help, to contact me on 082 952 7150 or Bongi on 082 264 7957,” Marius concluded.
