The protest has caused a major traffic backlog in the area and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.
Beyers Naudé Drive, and Johan, Peter and Marina Roads continue to be a no-go area due to protest action by Zandspruit residents.
The protest started this morning, Monday, 15 October, after the residents took to the streets to vent their anger about illegal connections after two children were allegedly electrocuted.
The protest has caused a major traffic backlog in the area and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes.
“We are on the scene. There’s one closed lane. Protesters are peaceful for now and they are demanding to speak to an official from the Mayor’s office,” said Captain Balan Muthan, the Honeydew Police spokesperson, who also emphasised the use of alternative routes.
