All philatelists are invited to the National Stampshow in Pretoria next week

The Stampshow will take place from Wednesday, 17 October to Saturday, 20 October.

Whether philately tickles your fantasy, or if you’d simply like to start collecting stamps, the 2018 Stampshow is for you.

The Pretoria Philatelic Society will be hosting the South African National Stampshow 2018, which will take place at the Kleinkaap Boutique Hotel. For the philatelists taking part in the Stampshow, things will begin on Monday, 15 October, when judging begins and continues right through to Tuesday.

The Stampshow will be open to everyone from Wednesday, 17 October, which is the official opening day for the event. It will also mean the stamp exhibition will be opened on the day from 10am to 6pm. While the exhibition is open, there will be a midday workshop on picture postcards, presented by Tim Bartsheon.

Thursday will be dedicated to viewing of the exhibition which will take place from 9am to 6pm. Friday will see participants back to business however, as the 80th National Philatelic Congress will begin at 8am in the boardroom on 19 October.

The exhibition will once again be open on Friday, and will be open from 10am to 7pm. Saturday will see a shorter exhibition time, from 9am to 12pm. It will also allow for the jury to release their critique of the collections they have seen.

There will also be a Sapda auction shortly before more workshops lasting until 7pm. Some of these will be presented in Afrikaans workshops, to cater for all the participants.
