VIDEO: Event organisers say it was not a ‘street party’
Event is a platform to show off cosmetic changes made to vehicles.
Although residents in the area surrounding Florida Lake and especially the parts around Swan Street feel that the event held there on Sunday, 7 October was an illegal street party, the organisers see things differently.

Spokesperson for Stance Universe, Chad Britton, said, “We are more a ‘cool movement’. The events are a platform for car lovers to park their cars in order to show off the cosmetic changes they have made to their vehicles. It is not about ‘spinning and revving’ the vehicles”. Regarding the fact that they did not approach the council for permission, he said they just made use of the lake like any other residents were allowed to. “There are problems at the lake every weekend, they have now just pinpointed us,” said Brittton.
Britton went on to say that yesterday they took part in the clean-up of the streets and are now engaging with the council. “For years the opposite side of the lake has been closed. We want to ask the council to reopen it so that in cases like ours we could hold our event without disturbing the community,” said Britton.
