Crime Victims Awareness to be hosted in Davidsonville

To ensure victims’ rights are upheld.

 

Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin will be hosting a Crime Victim’s Awareness Week from 8 to 10 October.

The Gauteng Department of Social Development will also be coming to Davidsonville to raise awareness about the rights of victims in the form of training and a door-to-door campaign.

The main objectives of this campaign are to provide information and empower victims; raise awareness about the victims charter; eliminate secondary victimisation; ensure victims remain central to the criminal justice process; and ensure victims’ rights are upheld.

Other stakeholders who will be partaking in this event are NG Welfare, Nqobile Home Care, National Children & Violence Trust, Khulisa Social Solutions, LifeLine Johannesburg, the SA Police Service, Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, Department of Health and Department of Community Safety.
