Monash commits to #Spay&NeuterForABetterFuture alongside Fora
The open day at Fora will be part of the #Spay&NeuterForABetterFuture campaign.
A group of students from Monash South Africa joined hands with the team at Friends of Rescued Animals (Fora) as part of a sterilisation awareness campaign.
Sterilising our pets is something we often neglect to do, and this in turn has a severe ripple effect that can negatively impact a lot of people and other animals. Animal shelters such as Fora are the prime example of what can happen when failing to sterilise an animal/ pet.
Undoubtedly the biggest issue when failing to sterilise animals is overpopulation. Generally when a community’s animal population increases to the point of overpopulation, owners tend to simply abandon their animals, which in turn end up on the doorstep of shelters such as Fora.
Fora then needs to take care of these abandoned animals, but even they struggle to keep up with the ever-increasing animal population. In light of this the Monash students have elected to help Fora by trying to raise awareness of the importance of sterilisation with their #Spay&NeuterForABetterFuture campaign.
They will be holding an open day at the Fora premises on Windsor Road in Luipaardsvlei on Saturday 13 October between 10am and 12pm where people will be able to come and say hello to the animals. They will see for themselves just how bad animal overpopulation has become. So, if you would like to find out more regarding the importance of sterilisation, make sure you head on over to Fora and pay them and the students a visit.
