Successful tournament hosted at Florida North Bowling Club
The Sables Lawn Bowling Association recently hosted the annual Colts and Fillies quadrangular series at the Florida North Bowling Club.
Bowlers participating in the tournament formed part of the following districts: Sables (SAB), Bowls Gauteng North (BGN), Ekurhuleni (EKH) and Sedibeng (SED).
According to Ian Taylor, the SAB press liaison officer, the tournament focuses on players that have been identified by their relevant districts as potential candidates for higher honours, and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their skills.
The tournament, which took place over two days, saw the SAB bowlers taking a slender three-point lead over BGN after the first round. But, this changed after the second round, when BGN continued their fine form, resulting in the top spot on the table.
After a disappointing start from EKH, who played against SED, they managed to get their focus on the game with a sound performance, which saw them leapfrogging Sables on the table, and taking the second spot.
BGN managed to hold on to the first spot on the table, and was crowned the 2018 Quadrangular Champions. EKH was second, SAB third and SED placed fourth.
