Promotions and awards galore at Chilly Trench Moths

New executive committee announced at meeting

The Memorable Order of the Tin Hats (Moth) Chilly Trench recently held a meeting where they announced their new executive committee. They also honoured one of their members.

During the announcement of the new executive committee, there were some well-deserved promotions, as well as some unchanged positions.

The new executive committe: Sergeant Major Piet Combrinck, Pay Bill Nic du Preez, Adjutant Natasha Calitz, Old Bill Kallie Calitz and Old Bill Leon du Plessis.

Kevin Gradidge, who stepped down as the West Rand Old Bill, proudly installed the new committee in true moth style.

The following members were selected as part of the committee:

• Kallie Calitz (Old Bill, West Rand District and Wee Bill, Chilly Trench Shellhole)

• Leon du Plessis (Old Bill, Chilly Trench Shellhole)

• Nick du Preez (Pay Bill, Chilly Trench Shellhole)

• Natasha Calitz (Adjutant, Chilly Trench Shellhole)

During the meeting, a Certificate of Excellence was awarded to Sergeant Major Piet Combrinck for his dedication and loyalty to the Order, as well as his passion and commitment to the elderly.

Kevin summed up Piet’s contribution by saying, “His Moth involvement started in 2003 when he was installed at Chilly Trench Shellhole. He immediately made himself available and was involved in several events at the Shellhole. In July 2010, Moth Piet was elected as the Sergeant Major, a position which he still holds. Piet is always available to assist with functions and events for the Moth, as well as visit the sick and frail Moth members. He lives for the three Ideals of the Order and in 2013 he was presented with a Certificate of Comradeship. All things considered, it is a pleasure for us to support an application for a Certificate of Excellence award.”
