Hirsch’s commits to assisting girls with dressing like princesses

Hirsch's Strubens Valley, Tania Sutherland Designs, and the South African Council for Business Women came together to collect dresses for matric girls in need of outfits for their special night.

Hirsch’s Strubens Valley recently played host to a drive aimed at collecting dresses for less fortunate girls who need dresses for their matric dances.

“With Matric Dance season in full swing, many people overlook the fact that lots of girls are not in a financial position to buy a dress for this special occasion,” said Hirsch’s Strubens Valley’s public relations officer (PRO), Dorette Nel. In light of this, Dorette and Tania Sutherland Designs got together with Nicole van Eeden from the South African Council for Business Women and Hirsch’s Strubens Valley to collect dresses and accessories.

The dresses which were collected during the drive were to be donated to the Freda Hartley Women’s Shelter, which is a safe haven for homeless women and their children.

The drive was crowned with the name, ‘The Cinderella Drive’ as it aims to give the less fortunate girls a chance to dress up and shine just like Cinderella. At the handover of the dresses to Cheryl Hlabana, who represented Freda Hartley, Dorette said, “We would like to thank the community for contributing to this worthy cause”.
